History in Glance

1984
Establishment of WWO

The foundation of WWO was laid in 1984, and the implementation of its constitution followed in 1986, making WWO one of the oldest wildlife care group in South Australia.

1986
Constitution written and accepted

Whilst starting 2 years earlier, the constitution was formally written and accepted in 1986. Making WWO officially a wildlife rescue organisation. 

Opening of the 1st Fundraising Shop

WWO celebrate the openign of its first fundraising shop located in Goolwa.

1996
10th Anniversary

Celebrating 10 years of dedication to wildlife conservation, WWO reflect on a decade of impactful efforts, nurturing injured animals back to health and promoting coexistence with nature.

2006
20th Anniversary

Marking 20 years of  commitiment to wildlife advocacy, WWO takes pride in its enduring mission to protect and preserve the diversity fauna of South Australia, inspiring a community to join hands in safeguaring our precious wildlife.

Fundraising Shop Relocation

The Goolwa Fundraising Shop was moved to Hutchinson Street.

SABA Award for Best Business by Volunteers

WWO proudly accepted the prestigious SABA Customer Service Award, acknowledging the excellence of our dedicated Goolwa shop and the remarkable contributions of our volunteers.

Introduction of the 1st Official Rescue Vehicle

30th Anniversary

Honoring 30 years of unwavering wildlife stewardship, WWO stands as a beacon of conservation, having served the community and the environment with dedication. 

Start of WRC Construction
2017
Completion of WRC

The Wildlife Rescue Centre is now fully operational, providing a safe haven where injured and orphaned animals receive expert care, rehabilitation, and a chance for a renewed life in the wild.

2018
Introduction of 2nd Rescue Vehicle
Opening of WWO's 2nd Fundraising Shop

The inauguration of WWO's 2nd Fundraising Shop in Victor Harbor marked another milestone in our commitement to wildlife welfare.

2023
Debut of WWO's Latest Wildlife Ambulance

This third-generation rescue ambulance contains numerous pieces of specialist equipment that enables the rescue team to capture injured animals in some very tricky situations.
