Team Profiles

Justin : Wildlife Centre Manager

Justin has been with WWO since 2020 and has a range of experience with multiple animal species. Justin completed a Bachelor of Science in Animal Behaviour at Flinders University in 2018 and has travelled to South Africa, South America and Fiji to study wildlife during this time. Justin has experience working at the RSPCA for over 5 years and heavily assisted in the wildlife rescue functionality of the RSPCA shelter. During this time he also helped perform wildlife rescue operations during the 2019/20 Kangaroo Island bushfires and subsequent supplement feeding of wildlife post bushfires. Justin has also been an active member in wildlife rescue organisations for a total of over 10 years.

Rena : Chairperson

Rena has been an active member of WWO more than 20 years and joined the organisation in 2000. As a wildlife carer for the organisation Rena has cared for more than 100 species of birds and over 8,000 individual animals. Rena has kept the organisations welfare and treatment standards up to date and ensured that we operate up to best industry standards. Along with having the first dedicated wildlife rescue ambulance in South Australia, Rena also instigated and organised the construction and subsequent daily operations of our current wildlife rescue centre located in Goolwa in 2016. Rena has been instrumental in setting up an op shop which has helped WWO become a more sustainable and reliable wildlife rescue organisation.

Karen : Secretary

Karen has lived in Goolwa for 21 years. Over that time she been a member of the Executive committees of the Business Association, Cittislow and 2 seperate tourism bodies. She was a member of the Rotary club of Goolwa for 11 years holding the position of President for the 2011-2012 year and was also a Councillor on the Alexandrina Council for the 2014-2018 term. Alongside her commitment to the many voluntary duties, Karen has held the position of administration manager in various business sectors and brings with her a wealth of knowledge on procedures, processes and safety practices.
